Sir Winston Churchill was a trustee of the George and Dragon. From him we take our motto ‘never give in.’ It drives our passion for the George and Dragon every day.
After World War Two, the George and Dragon was owned by Flt Lt Charles Pain, who had participated in the Dambusters raids using the ‘bouncing bomb.’
Over more recent years the George and Dragon’s traditional brick barns and skittle alley have been converted into charming, peaceful bedrooms. Each with their own front door they’re ‘your own little country cottage.’
Burgers. Sunday Roasts. Delicious fish specials. Vegan options. Puddings to indulge in. Our chefs use locally sourced organic ingredients whenever possible. Served with passion and pride.
Because we’ve got eleven rooms and acres of space. The George and Dragon is the perfect base for guests to stay at local weddings. (Please book well in advance though.)
We love dogs in our bar at the George and Dragon. And there are great walks nearby too. As we always say: ‘Dogs, and well behaved owners are very welcome.’
The George and Dragon is ideal for weekend or weekday shooting parties. Stay over in our eleven rooms. Hold a shooting breakfast or supper with us.
If you’re looking for a venue for a company brainstorming, or an office lunch or dinner (Christmas party maybe?) the George and Dragon is a great place to get the team together. Stay overnight, do some work, eat well, drink well, and have some fun.
