NEWBURY RACES
The famous Newbury Racecourse is just 10 miles away. So if you’re a fan of the horses, The George and Dragon makes a fine venue to dine and stay the night.
VISIT ‘DOWNTON ABBEY’
Highclere Castle, the real-life location of Downton Abbey makes a great day out. An awesome 19th century stately home. And 18th Century ‘Capabilty Brown’ gardens.
BOATS, LOCKS AND CANALS
Aldermaston Wharf and the Kennet and Avon canal are a couple of miles to the north. Bike rides, walks, adventures, and boat trips.
GOLF, OF COURSE
There are several great golf courses nearby the George and Dragon. If you’re happy with 9 holes Bishopswood is literally just up the road.
SEVEN LAKES FISHERY
Hampshire is the home of great fishing. We’ve many wonderful rivers and fisheries. The local Seven Lakes fishery makes a fabulous family day out.

Take a gentle gentle stroll after lunch through the enchanting Wolverton Common. Or if you’re feeling more adventurous, try Pamber Forest.

Watership Down is just a bunny hop away near the village of Kingsclere. Amazing, unspoilt, magical, secret. Visit the rabbits.
